This lovely double fronted stone-built cottage is spacious, immaculately presented and well equipped and enjoys the benefit of being only a 10 metre walk from the open expanse of Sele Park where there are views towards the magnificent Hexham Abbey and across the Tyne Valley. Although the cottage is in a secluded position a pleasant walk leads to the town centre where there are many facilities available including a cinema / theatre, indoor swimming, numerous shops, quaint tea rooms and restaurants. Why not try your luck at Hexham racecourse or sample a spot of fishing on the River Tyne? Golfing enthusiasts will delight in the several prestigious courses close by, including Matfen and the De Vere Slaley Hall. Hexham is often recognised as the jewel in Northumberland’s crown and is nestled in the very heart of Hadrian’s Wall Country – England’s largest Heritage site within the most northerly of National Parks. Vindolanda, Thirlwell Castle, a quarry wildlife park, The Roman Army Museum and Walltown Craggs – the highest remaining section of Hadrian’s Wall - are all interesting visitor attractions within easy reach. Horse-riders, ramblers and cyclists will enjoy exploring the surrounding heather moorlands with rugged uplands which include some of the highest, wildest and most beautiful scenery in the country. The North Pannine Dales provide miles of beautiful walks and spectacular sights such as High Force; England’s largest waterfall. Bowes Museum, Killhope Wheel and Beamish Museum are also interesting historic attractions within easy driving distance. The vibrant city of Newcastle, well-known for its global, cultural pursuits and the extensive shopping facilities at the world renowned Gateshead Metro Centre, along with the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, the Baltic Centre and the Sage Gateshead music venue are just over 20 miles east, ensuring Seal Cottage provides a peaceful retreat in an excellent central location for discovering the best of Northumberland, County Durham and Cumbria too. The centre of Hexham has excellent public transport links and for those guests wishing to travel without a car, the owners are happy to transport to and from Newcastle airport, bus or train station if required.

Horse riders, ramblers and cyclists will delight in exploring the various footpaths and bridleways - the new cycle route which follows the Wall for 174 miles runs past the Old Military Road less than a mile north.
