Stroll through the Park from Hexham town centre to Seal Cottage! |
There is no vehicular access right up to the cottage and nowhere to park actually at the property. However, in order to load and unload luggage it is possible to drive through the park to within a few yards of the cottage (there are 4 steps with a handrail leading from the park onto the footpath by the cottage) and cars should then be moved. We have a paid-for permit for guests to use free of charge to park one car overnight and at weekends in the small, private car park at the entrance to the park – you drive through this car park to get to the access for the cottage. This car park belongs to a chiropractice and is therefore needed for patients during the day, but there is plenty of roadside parking in the vicinity.
For daytime parking and extra vehicles, the nearest free, on-street parking is opposite the town police station and within 5 minutes’ walk from Seal Cottage.
Generally, this does not cause problems for guests, particularly as it is possible to drive up the path through the park when vehicular access is needed – but obviously this does mean that the property is not easy for anyone with mobility problems.
