to Stanegate Hideaways.

Stretching across northern England, through some of the country's most spectacular scenery, The Stanegate is the Roman road linking Corbridge, Vindolanda  and Carlisle and is believed to pre-date Hadrian's Wall having been built by the Emperor Agricola in around AD 78,  and thus linking our cottages in Hexham and Huntercrook, and indeed our own home in the hamlet of Thorngrafton. Here you will find a wealth of history: an abundance of wildlife:  rugged moorlands and beautiful valleys; - spaces to explore and excite every sense - peace to relax and enjoy Nature at her most glorious and awe-inspiring.  Whether you want to Walk the Wall, explore historical sites or just hide from the rat-race, Stanegate Hideaways provide the perfect places for escape, where you, your children and, indeed, your dogs, will be most welcome!  And if you really have to bring your work with you, we have wi-fi so you can access the internet.

Thanks for allowing us the privilege of staying in this beautiful house, so cosy - well-equipped, we really couldn't have asked for better! Will hopefully be back here really soon!  Stable Cottage, R S & D, Gateshead Nov 2013

Yet another lovely break at Stable Cottage.  Not long enough but I'm sure we will be back soon.

Thank you for a lovely week in Seal cottage.  Your hospitality, in all the little homely touches, was much appreciated.

Hexham is all we hoped it would be and the walks around here and the views are amazing.  Seal Cottage also exceeded our expectaions and they were already high as we had scanned the internet carefully to recharge our batteries at a special place.  The surprise treats, and attention to detail shows how much you care for your guests.

From start to finish this holiday was fabulous.  The warm welcome, the amazing welcome pack and then ultimately the lovely cottage.  Every room is immaculate and every need has been catered for.  We will definitely be staying again.
